NEW YORK, NY — June 17, 2015— Andrew McOrmond, Managing Director at WallachBeth Capital, a New York City-based institutional execution firm, competed in the 2015 Wall Street Decathlon as a member of the ‘CNBC Halftime Report Traders’ team. Bringing together participants throughout the financial industry, The Decathlon is a Wall Street fundraising initiative with the aim of curing children’s cancer, more specifically funding two clinical trials at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To date, more than $5.6 million has been raised in support of the cause
On CNBC’s Fast Money Halftime Report, McOrmond discussed his last minute preparations for the event as well as his thoughts on the cause. “I think what’s great about it is that the kids and parents will be there,” McOrmond told the hosts. “That will really motivate you. During the event, your heart may hurt and you may not be able to breathe, but it’s nowhere near the pain and suffering these kids have gone through.”
While team participants were free to select which of the ten event they would participate in, McOrmond elected to compete as a an individual in all 10 events: the 400m run, the football throw, ups, 40yd dash, dips, 500m stationery row, vertical jump, 20yd shuttle, bench press, and the 800m run.
“It was such an incredibly rewarding experience to be a part of this fundraiser,” McOrmond said after the weekend event. “I’m proud to have participated with my CNBC Halftime Report Traders’ teammates in making strides towards funding these clinical trials [at Sloan Kettering].”
The event was held over the weekend on June 13-14 at St. John’s University’s DaSilva Memorial Field. Click here for a video recap off Team CNBC Halftime Report Traders’ participation in the event.
